It's the same here. Just how it is, I guess. It's all me, either I research, implement AND write or nothing happens. Just be aware that a PhD isn't worth much to begin with, so if you're unhappy, consider your options. I'm relatively free to do what I like, so I stay.. for now.

I think most PhD programs have the option to leave with a Master's degree after a certain amount of progress. Do you have that option?
Yes, I do. I think I block myself off from some types of jobs which say they’d like a PhD holding applicant, so that’s the only concern.
