It was highly motivated by the political bias of the company itself (its employees and leaders). They’re now claiming it’s all due to pressure from the Biden administration but I think most people believe they willingly agreed to that censorship.
When large tech companies enact these kinds of schemes it does affect all of society. A lot of our speech is online. Censorship online is no different than government censorship in terms of its impact. The solution is to break up these companies.
