No, the "rich" people I've provided tech support to are the juiciest targets and get hit regularly because avoiding malware/phishing/etc. doesn't even register on their daily thought process and everything is just something to get through to get to the next important thing
You would not believe what a person can manage to install on their MacBook nowdays... it used to be "Flash Player updates" that got them, now I don't even know where this stuff comes from
Adding ... these people are the most likely to leave laptops unlocked and unattended in public spaces as many of them just see the petty cost of the laptop vs. the value of the data on it and their risk vectors to a corporation. Their email discussions alone can be worth the market cap of their company.
I've successfully set some regular laptop users up with linux, but having the linux system be part of their "ecosystem" with their phones, tablet, password manager, Teams, and other common needs met takes more work than some people admit
I really think if someone get malware on macOS, they need a locked down tablet like an iPad instead of a more open device
I get these 419 scam emails and think "who would believe $10 million would fall out of the sky?" and the only conclusion I can come to is "someone who already had $10 million fall out of the sky".
Some rich people are really shrewd, but people who inherit it often aren't. I had a friend growing up who was from a family that inherited a fortune from a European conglomerate, they were trying to get my parents to get into Amway (poor, but too smart for that shit) and involved in right wing politics.
