Yes that’s the lie that’s often told. But in many jurisdictions, crime data can misrepresent reality when laws aren’t enforced, when many crimes aren’t reported or counted, when weak judges remove incentives for victims to bother calling it in, etc. It’s helpful to believe your eyes when obvious lies are told that are disproven daily.
We have actual war zones active around the world right now, so maybe you can come up with better terms for the municipal dispute you're referring to here.

Every single thing you just cited is a regular, nationwide occurrence in America. None of them are without precedent, many happen on an annual (or more regular) basis.
