What is happening to github is the same thing that is happened w/ twitter in the bluesky drama. people migrated to bluesky but later came back to twitter. Github is used for more than just code, it is some people's whole resume.
And job hunting devs might not be so open to migrating to codeberg as corporation might not understand the reason for the switch.
As a student github still serves its purpose i.e to keep my code thats it.
big projects like nixpkgs or kernel should move away first maybe that might make a dent
