I wonder how linux will actually perform in 8gb of memory.
My (wild/uneducated) guess is that the nvme disk is replaceable because the system design implicitly assumes swap memory to be used constantly (hence burning through the disk’s write endurance).
As a linux user that has been using the macbook neo since it’s released, i also wonder how well the memory management will handle constant swap-heavy operations.
I've used a number of mini PCs and Arm SBCs with 8 GB of RAM. Most casual use (browsing, writing, media playback) is no problem, but using "creative" software (image editors, NLEs, DAWs, etc.) quickly gets annoying.
On Linux you have full control, you can disable swapping if you want to preserve your disk. You can also use a less heavy UI manager and further reduce memory usage. You have, in theory, more options to control what runs on the hardware than on a Mac.

Any low memory situation will result in system freeze or stuff getting randomly terminated
