The greatest problem is the normalization of and apathy about varying degrees of corruption of a large swath of elected officials in the US: moral turpitude, abuse of power, self-dealing, conflict-of-interest, emoluments, and bribery.
Another problem: That's just one of the largest (alleged) frauds with public awareness. There are metric craptons of other Medicare/insurance fraud shops operating right now from CPAP sellers to assistive device providers to orthotics pushers. While a % of patients might have conditions that could benefit from specific treatments, medications, and equipment, there's a lot of phony "diagnosis" (no condition) and over-diagnosis (exaggeration) going on to sell procedures and equipment at inflated prices. That's less money for needier patients, higher taxes/premiums, and unnecessary "conditions" that patients don't actually have. General practice doctors are obviously getting kickbacks on outsourcing specialty care to these fraudsters, sometimes because the vendor is superficially legitimatized with large patient volumes, legitimate appearance, and/or advertising, whom might not be looking out for patients' real health interests. Some kind of medical services licensing board needs the power to regulate these companies and conduct undercover audits to catch these cheaters and refer them to prosecution in egregious cases and fine them for over-diagnosis.
