Gimp is quite terrible to use, it feels janky. It feels like more of a software project for the sake of being something to work on, rather than producing something that people would prefer to Photoshop.
Even after almost thirty years it’s still not user-friendly. Imagine if it had been developed like Blender: today not only would there not be AI Photoshop clones, there probably wouldn’t be Photoshop either, or it would be reduced to a niche product for corporate like Maya or 3ds Max.
Nonsense. GIMP can only hurt itself by not being as good as other free alternatives. I've tried PhotoCraft and, if you ask me, Krita is the superior application and so I still use Krita. All these options are now on a level playing field and must be chosen on merit rather than cost.
I didn't ask you, nobody asked me either. But I do think the UI of Photoshop is horrible and gimp is very easy and clean product I like to use that hasn't drastically changed 3 times since I learned using it.
I completely agree. It's minimalist, with no modals within modals or hidden buttons (except for the obvious context buttons). Whether you like the UI design or not is another matter.
Shout out to Photopea, an awesome tool (I prefer it to GIMP) given it's portability and availability in the browser

Once you learn your workflows, it becomes quite natural. But I agree that as an entry point it's confusing and feels clunky.

Clearly the majority of the people think otherwise.
