> “‘No, no, no this time I'm not doing it,’ he said,” Trump recounted, laughing. “'Oceans are different, sir, they cover really a lot of countries please don't ask us to do that.'”
I read an interesting article with some language analysis that theorized whenever Trump is making up a story about someone saying something that didn't happen has has them call him "sir" to flatter his own ego. It's been noticed by a few different people.
> "Trump often tells two kinds of fake stories: Stories about going home to his wife Melania after rallies, and stories about generals and other people who come up to him and call him 'sir,'" said Meyers, pointing out that the president seemed to mix up these narratives at his Tuesday rally in Pennsylvania. Speaking about going home (which he apparently does "all the time"), Trump said Melania called him "sir" — not exactly an affectionate name to call your husband.
> I’ve fact-checked every word Trump has uttered since his inauguration. I can tell you that if this President relays an anecdote in which he has someone referring to him as “sir,” then some major component of the anecdote is very likely to be wrong.
> Lots of people do call Trump “sir,” of course. But the word seems to pop into his head more frequently when he is inventing or exaggerating a conversation than when he is faithfully relaying one. A “sir” is a flashing red light that he is speaking from his imagination rather than his memory.
A lot of American tech companies make half or more of their revenue outside the US. I suppose they're gambling on the fact that market share doesn't move very quickly in a lot of these markets. But simping for Trump isn't going make the job of retaining and growing market sharing and overseas markets easier.
Elon seems to be kissing the hot stove with passion. Tesla's BEV market share is down by about half in the EU. Any other CEO would be out on their ass after provoking customers that way.
Vanity displayed in full.
